I love the freedom the creative services department at etv get to create often way-out promos pushing the boundaries of what can often be such generic promos. For June 2012 they feature George ‘The Beatboxer’ Avakian, South Africa’s most celebrated beatboxer who performed at etv’s Christmas party last year, beatboxing and singing through the video (above). Originally or Armenian descent the guy has become a proudly South African entertainer. Together with some slick After Effects and Motion graphics which highlight some of the (often surprising) hit shows on etv (from ‘Anaconda’ to ‘Modern Family’ and the channel’s most popular show ‘Scandal’), the promo also feature the cast of a variety of locally produced shows dancing in the promo with George. I quite love it and I’m proud to be part of the e family who can laugh at itself, produce something fun and appeal to a uniquely South African TV audience.
